Break out the limoncello

Sunday, December 23, 2012

I’m done; I’m ready; I can hardly wait!

I finished up my last hand-made gift this morning and, although I’m not doing much, I finished my Christmas baking. In the past “being done” meant opening my Amaretto and indulging in a few drinks during the rest of the season. This year my drink of choice will be Limoncello.

As much as I dreaded yesterday’s task (the accounting) I have looked forward to today’s job for weeks. During the past year I have bookmarked and dreamt about making all sorts of lovely quilts that I’ve seen online. I have downloaded countless patterns and tutorials, not to mention the many classes I still have left in the Guild season.

I went through the lists and narrowed all the wishes and dreams down to a few that I may actually start in the coming year. I need to do this now because I hope to spend some time at Fabricana when we are visiting Christy. They have some Boxing Week sales, and their regular prices are a bit lower than I can find locally. I’ll go armed with photos (and hopefully Pat) and we will pick out fabrics.

Here is my list:

  • Backing for Sundays, Weddings and Funerals (my tie quilt)
  • Backing for Flowers from my Garden (yet to be renamed – my applique quilt)
  • Backing for Frame by Frame (probably a Community Quilt)
  • Fabric for my Challenge Bag (I have one fat quarter but need more for my plans)
  • Several rulers (Square in a Square, 60 degree, Fit to be Geese)
  • 10” Layer cake for a class I’ll be taking next year
  • Background for my Sugar Blocks (my chosen Block of the Month for next year)
  • Black & Colours for a pattern I’m really looking forward to making
  • Christmas fabrics – they’re on sale so I need to get them!

I’ve spent some time catching up on a few things on the website. Many of my recent creations can’t be shared until after Christmas though.
