I had my x-rays done this morning and I’ve had the BOND turkey in the oven most of the afternoon (it was still frozen so it is taking longer to cook than I anticipated). It certainly smells good though! I really wanted to report to you that my studio was all tidied up but I’m not quite there yet.
I cleared all the way through to my cutting table, although I still need to vacuum. I put away all the tools I had scattered about, and I cleaned up all the Christmas fabric scraps. Some were cut into various sized squares to be used on future projects, some were cut in strips for a particular project I hope to get started in the new year, some went in a bag to pass along to Community Quilts, and some very small pieces went in the garbage.
That leaves me with my desk and sewing table to clear off, as well as the tops of my storage and filing cabinets. When things are in such a mess it is fun clearing it away and reorganizing as I go along. I even have a New Use for an Old Thing!
The Old Thing was a wooden spoon rack that Hugh’s Dad made for me. I have a bag of spoons in my silver chest, but the rack hasn’t been used for years. None of the girls wanted to take it and it didn’t feel right to give it away. It has sat on top of one of the dressers in my studio since we moved (and it was in a closet for many years before that).
Diane and I have chatted in the past about how it could be used for something else. She came up with a holder for pretty hankies, but then I’d have to start collecting hankies! I thought it could be used as a holder to slip key rings onto, but I only have one set of keys and this has a lot of slots. A random thought popped into my head today for another way to use it.
The larger needles don’t fit into the slots, but the ones I use most often fit perfectly.
