It’s like Christmas

Today was a get-something-done day so I started with laundry. And while I waited for loads to wash and dry I dug out some of our Christmas decorations. Everywhere I look I can see something Christmassy – the USB tree near Pat’s computer, several of Mum’s cross-stitched wall hangings, Christmas plates, snowmen and the music box that Dad made.

It all looked so good I thought I should throw some cleaning into the day too so out came the vacuum and the duster. We’ll get a tree next week – we haven’t decided if it will be a big one or a small one, but we have a corner that will fit either size.

Connie, from BOND, stopped by this afternoon with a load of groceries for the Christmas dinner on Monday. The dinner is at the United Church just half a block up the hill from us. For as long as I’ve worked with the program, we store most of the groceries and produce here for the weekend. She made a second trip about an hour later with one of the turkeys (that I will cook on Sunday) and a ham. The fridge and freezer are very full, and what didn’t need to be refrigerated is in the shed. I even have a tofu turkey in the fridge!

I spent ten minutes rolling on the tennis ball this afternoon and I think it helped – for a short while at least. After I finished I came down the stairs with absolutely no pain. Could be that my hip and leg were too numb to feel anything! I think I’ll try it again before bed and maybe I’ll be able to sleep past six tomorrow.
