Knit one, two, three

I was just heading for bed when I realized I’d neglected to update my journal.

I spent most of the day knitting. I finished the scarf and got started on another hat. I’m making this one a bit bigger, but with fewer colour changes. Weaving in all of those ends was too much work. I also have worked up to the thumb increases on the first mitt. If I was smarter I could perhaps make two at the same time using a couple of circular needles – like I said, if I was smarter!

Speaking of two circular needles I ran into a memory lapse on how to work the afterthought heel on my socks. I tried and unknit and tried again. Then I started to doubt myself. I did some googling and found a video that shows me what to do so I will unknit some more tomorrow and get myself back on track.

It was a gorgeous day today. All the sunshine has my Christmas Cactus starting to bloom. We usually get flowers in November and again in February. Maybe, if we get enough sun, there will be blossoms left at Christmas.

I checked in on Margaret and she is so cheery I’m surprised they haven’t packed her up and sent her home. Her niece will be coming for a visit next week and she is very happy about that. I’ve spoken to this niece in the past and she won’t let the doctor get away with anything!

Tonight was our regular movie night. Killer Joe was playing but, after watching the trailer, I decided it wasn’t my kind of show. Pat debated about going but fell asleep on the couch instead. He will have another opportunity tomorrow afternoon if he wants to see it.
