Making it up

Pat was teaching today so we had an early start to the day – my start was a bit later than his, but I had coffee in hand by 5:00 AM so I wasn’t too far behind.

I debated with myself last night and this morning about going to the sewing bee. The group wasn’t meeting at the Senior Center, but I knew where to find them. I dug out a pattern and had fabric pressed before realizing my rotary cutter was in the box that hasn’t arrived home yet. Since my main tools and projects are in the box I decided to skip the bee. I spent a good part of my day knitting and doing laundry.

I finished up a hat to send to Elizabeth. I’m wanting to use up some scrap wool and I had a hat pattern that would use some of it. I didn’t like the shape of that hat though so I found another one that I liked better. I combined elements of each one and I’m happy with the way it turned out. I’ll make the next one a bit bigger, change the shaping a bit more, and then see which one fits her crew better.

I wanted to keep the same scrap theme going in the scarf so I used some of the elements from the hat and the stitch pattern from another scarf. I’ve run out of the main wool colour but I think it is long enough to be a short scarf! I’m not worried about the mitt pattern – I’ve made this particular pattern often and I have enough of a sort-of-matching wool to finish the pair.

I called Margaret several times yesterday and when I couldn’t reach her at home I eventually called the hospital. She was admitted on Sunday night – very short of breath and problems with swollen legs and feet. I stopped in to see her this afternoon and she seems quite cheerful. She is on oxygen but says she doesn’t have any pain. I’m worried about her, but there is nothing I can do except keep her company.
