How long has it been?

I must have been eager to get my day started – I was awake before Pat’s alarm went off, and up before my backup alarm went off. I didn’t have a big day planned, but I did have a few things I wanted to get at.

I spent the first couple of hours puttering in my studio. I had a bit of Guild work to do and then I sorted out what I need for my class on Saturday. Ruby and I learned how to make a buttonhole this morning. I don’t remember the last time I even attempted a buttonhole – probably not since velcro was invented! I couldn’t believe how easy it was, once I had the right foot in place and the right levers adjusted.

Next I cut out the fabric for my Disappearing Nine-Patch class and then I worked on Falling Leaves (yesterday’s wall hanging). It took longer than I expected, but then my projects always do. I got things tacked down but I realized that once the piece was hung the leaves really would be falling. I should have paid more attention to how the leaves were placed on the sample we were working from. I’m not sure I did it right, but by lunch I had everything stitched and holding in place.

I went up to see Margaret this afternoon. The physio people were just getting her out of bed when I arrived so we walked down to the lounge together and spent a bit of time visiting there. She is walking surprisingly well considering how long she has been off her feet. Once we walked back to her room I could tell she was tired. We chatted a little longer and then I left her to crawl into bed and probably nap. I’ll see her again tomorrow after my Red Cross shift.

When I got home I cut and stitched the binding for my wall hanging. I’ll spend the evening hand stitching it down. If there is any extra time, my socks are calling!
