It took several tries last night, but I eventually got a start on my second pair of socks. I had trouble with casting on, but that wasn’t the end of the problems. I think I knit the first row (or tried to knit the first row) three times before I got the yarn ends going in the right direction and actually knitting the stitches together. The second row was just as trying. I noticed that the stitches were twisted but thought I could sort that out. As I knit further though, I realized I was doing something wrong. Turns out the instructions told me to knit the second row into the back of the stitch to get the twisted stitches headed the right way. I don’t remember doing that in my class, but I was pretty traumatized over the casting on!
I thought it would be an easy day at BOND today – egg salad sandwiches were on the menu. But it takes a long time to hard boil 30 eggs, cool them, peel them and chop them. And don’t even talk to me about trying to get a sandwich assembly line going in the small space I work with. It is all worth it though – we had a baby girl who was born just last Wednesday. We also said goodbye to two Mums and babies, and that isn’t so fun. They will be invited back to the Christmas dinner so hopefully I’ll see them again.
I was only home long enough for a cup of coffee and then I headed out again to get my hair trimmed – I was long overdue for a cut. I gave Graham a hard time for cutting off all the dark hair and leaving all the grey!
We’ve got another storm blowing tonight – more wind, but less rain.
