We had a busy day getting ready for the concert. We got the seating all worked out first thing this morning. Although the living room was tidy, we made a bit of a mess in the rest of the place. While Pat went out for groceries so we could feed the artist, I got busy making beds and cleaning.
Mary and Mag arrived on the 4:30 ferry and Pat had dinner ready to serve whenever they were ready. We chatted a bit, they got settled in and we had supper on the early side. Then it was a mad scramble to get the dinner cleared away and the kitchen set up for snacks (pot luck), tea and coffee. We added a CD sales station in one corner of the island and we also used part of the kitchen for seating so it was quite crowded.
We had suggested people should come around 7:00 and Mary would start to play about 7:30. Our first guest arrived at 6:45 and they came in a steady stream after that. And the food they brought was absolutely wonderful – homemade salsa and chips, an apple cake, fresh baked bagels, hummus, and much much more! And most of what was left was left for us!
The concert was very well received. Everyone loved the music, Mary was very generous with her time talking to people, and I think everyone generally enjoyed visiting during the break. When Mary finished her concert some of the folks were off to the Shinglemill for their Open Mike night. Some of the players in the crowd persuaded Pat and Mary to join them.
Mag helped me do an initial clean-up in the kitchen and the rest can wait until tomorrow.
