At-home day

As soon as I finished my morning e-mail, Facebook, news and blogs I picked up my socks to do a little work before class tomorrow. I thought I might have forgotten this new-fangled way to cast on stitches, but I had them done in no time, and without any problems. I’m looking forward to the knitting part of this project – hopefully they haven’t found a different way to knit and purl!

After breakfast I sorted through the recycling and got it ready for pick-up tomorrow. While I was finishing up, Pat suggested another way to arrange the laundry room so we moved a bit of stuff around. I’m not sure it makes any difference but it isn’t any worse so who cares. I was way behind in my coffee composting so I tackled that after lunch.

You may recall a couple of weeks ago I purchased some fabric at a Garage Sale. I washed it all yesterday and spent at least an hour this afternoon ironing it. Now I have a nice bag of fabric for my next Community Quilt. No pattern in mind yet, but I have several books I can look through – I’m sure I’ll find something.

At the bee tomorrow many of us are working on a project together. I had the list of the materials required and I got everything cut and packed away. Finally I was ready to spend some time with Ruby. We spent a couple of hours before supper piecing a new project. I can’t believe how quiet the machine runs, and I’m really liking the flat surface of the sewing table.

I have a dozen blocks to press tonight and then I’ll get things packed up for tomorrow’s bee and knitting class. Ruby is much too heavy to carry back and forth so I’ll be taking my old machine with me. I’m hoping it will behave well enough to at least do a piecing stitch. Do you think if I had given the old clunker a nice name it would have made a difference?
