Another early morning

I managed to crawl out of bed this morning when my alarm went off. I spent a couple of hours organizing my photos. I have captioned all of our Italian pictures, but I still have a bit of research to do into the names of some of the Churches and other landmarks. The next big job will be working on the text and then matching pictures to what I write.

Notice how I’ve used my ironing board to give my quilt more support.

I was feeling so good (and it was still so early) that I thought I’d just get busy and do that extra stitching on my Community Quilt. Maybe, just maybe, I could get it done and still take it to the meeting tonight. I watched one of my videos and got my sewing center set up just like she said I should. I got my machine configured for some free motion quilting and got started.

What, no tension in my stitches? I fiddled and fiddled and no matter what I did the stitches just weren’t locking in place. I was wishing I had left well enough alone and not bothered with any of this extra stitching. I guess tomorrow I will see if I have the same problem with my other configurations. If I do I’ll take the machine to be serviced. I think I’ve done some sewing since the machine was cleaned so I don’t think I did anything to wreck it. Who knows?

I picked Margaret up for our Red Cross shift. She left both her hearing aids at home today; she usually only wears one, but without any she was hard to chat with. When she went for her walk during our shift she came back and said that when she went to open one of the doors her thumb was locked and she couldn’t move it. We were chatting about it and she said that she’s felt some tingling in her fingers of late. It happened two more times within half an hour so I convinced her we should stop at the Emergency on our way out. She agreed.

She came out of Emergency with a splint from her hand to her elbow. The doctor says it might be the nerves that are causing the problem. The splint will keep her arm motionless and he’s hoping the tingling in her fingers will stop. I’m glad that’s all it was.

It was a quick turn-around to have some dinner and then get ready for the Quilt Show meeting at six. That was immediately followed by our first Guild business meeting. I was so busy taking registrations that I barely heard what was going on. I guess I won’t be blogging about this meeting. I suggested that we start a Facebook group and everyone (who knew what Facebook was) thought it was a good idea. I’m assuming there isn’t much to it – I guess I’ll find out in the next few days.

No teaching tomorrow so we won’t need to set our alarms!
