One thing always leads to another

Pat and I started our day with a walk down the Willingdon Beach Trail (a.k.a. The Mighty Machine Trail). We haven’t been down there for awhile and, whether it is the time of year or the time day, we saw things we hadn’t seen before. Yes, the squirrels are still there and there are no new mighty machines, but we saw a large upturned tree (but it didn’t look like a new fall) and a straight line of five young cedars growing along the path.

When we came home I headed up to my studio with a plan to start my hand stitching. Before I got that started I cast on the stitches for a scarf to match my lovely lavender shawl that I purchased when Stacia and Deloise visited. Then I thought I should clear off the clutter on my desk and update my quilting binder. I filled out a dozen or so receipts for the Guild membership – even if I don’t use them all on Tuesday they will be filled in for the rush at the first Guild meeting on Thursday.

I decided I could sit downstairs and sew the binding on one of my door hangers, but by the time I got down it was lunchtime. As we were eating lunch (and admiring the view) I remembered that I needed to cut the grass today. Except for the very green clover growing in the lawn, the job was pretty easy. Pat helped with the weed whacker on the edges, but by the time I did the raking and a second round of mowing I was tired.

I made myself a glass of lemonade and went outside to the lower level deck and sat in the Adirondack chair and read for awhile. Once the lemonade was gone, and my book was finished, there was nothing stopping me from a bit of a rest in the hammock.

After I woke up from my nap I was determined to get some sewing done, but Alex’s birthday present needed to be wrapped and made ready for the mail tomorrow. I had the birthday wrap secured when Pat called me for dinner. After dinner dishes were cleaned up (in the dishwasher) I finally got Alex’s parcel ready for the mail.

I may have an enough time left in my day to get at some of that stitching!
