We decided against the music festival again today. I always have lots to do at home, but Pat wanted to do some rearranging in his studio in preparation for his upcoming on-line training sessions. As everyone heads back to school after the summer, he will be heading back into the virtual classroom to teach several classes over the next few months.
I got a start on some of my hand stitching today – not very far, but a start. I finished up Alex’s birthday present and then thought I’d better get a card done for him so the package could get in the mail on Tuesday. But I had promised my machine I would do that cleaning and oiling job so I sat through my video tutorial and learned nothing! I’ve taken my machine apart many times, and the two drops of oil I needed to add were well explained in my sewing machine manual. I got the vacuum out, as well as some Q-Tips, and I think I got rid of all the lint. I can’t say it is running any better (or quieter), but I feel better knowing it is clean.
I knew the fabric I wanted to use for Alex’s card, but I didn’t have a pattern. I looked at my card-making book and Recipe 7 was exactly what I needed. All the patterns in the book are listed as recipes! Because I need lots of September cards I made the one for Alex, and then one for a guy and one for a girl using the same pattern.
That is all the stitching I got done today – not my usual marathon but I enjoyed a less stressful day. I worked on an “extra” birthday surprise for Alex, and I had some time this afternoon to sit out on the back deck with my book.
We treated ourselves to the movie tonight – at least it seems like a treat when we don’t go on “cheap” night. We get a senior rate ($5.50) so we can go whenever we want and it is always the same price as cheap night.
