I feel bad about it

I spent an hour or so this morning knitting while I waited for a couple of loads of laundry to finish. Showers were in the forecast so I used the drier rather than the outside line. Besides, the last load I dried outside had a few problems with a bird (or birds) leaving their calling card. Isn’t it time they went South for the winter?

Margaret and I had our Red Cross shift this afternoon. The woman on the morning shift said she wasn’t busy so I expected a slow afternoon. Not so. I had one client come in and pick up six items, and for each piece I had to explain how it worked. It took a long time to fill his order and I was glad Margaret was there to show him where the loading dock was. In the end though I think he hauled everything up in the elevator. It is a long way from the elevator to the parking lot but once he left our hallway I didn’t worry about what he was doing.

In the last fifteen minutes of the shift I had two clients return about six items each. I got started on the washing, but I had to leave two wheelchairs for tomorrow morning’s shift. I hated to do that but Margaret was anxious to get going – she had the Open sign down five minutes early.

Margaret had an appointment at the bank after our shift so while she was there I popped in to WalMart to pick up some oil. I’m going to do a cleaning and oil job on my sewing machine before I quilt my Community Quilt. I’ve done a quick clean before, but never added oil. I signed up for a free on-line Machine Maintenance 101 class so I’m hoping that will help.

After I got home I sewed the binding and sleeve to the door hanger I finished yesterday. My machine is set up to start quilting on the last hanger but Pat called me for dinner before I got it started.

I’ve signed up for a knitting class at Great Balls of Wool (what a great name for a wool shop). The class will teach me to knit socks on two sets of circular needles (at the same time). There was talk of invisible casting on, an afterthought heel and a crochet cast-off! I’ll have to cut my quilting bee days a bit shorter, but I’m looking forward to something new.

And speaking of knitting, I have the final baby cap about half finished. Hopefully I can drop them off at the Auxuliary next week.

We were hoping to hear from Abe and Jo who expected to dock at the Westview Harbour today. We haven’t heard anything from them yet but there is still time. Pat had a brief communication with them via Facebook yesterday but we don’t know where they were sending it from.
