Not too early

I thought I was going to wrap things up in my studio early today, but I’ve been puttering around and it will soon be dinner.

I started a new project this morning. I had to refer back to my notes to get started as it has been quite some time since I’ve done any paper piecing. I think the results of a paper-pieced block are so much more accurate (at least for me) than a pieced block. It is a lot more trouble though. I have a new project ready to be sandwiched at the bee on Tuesday.

I cut the batting and backing for my community quilt and I’ll take that with me on Tuesday as well. I emptied out the case that I was storing my butterfly quilt fabric and notes in. Some of the pieces went directly back into my stash drawers, but some of it was scraps so I cut them down. When I did my paper-piecing project it was really nice to be able to go into my scrap stash and find the colors and sizes that I needed.

Then I got out my Block of the Month blocks. I am planning to donate them as door hangers to the senior’s care home but they aren’t quite large enough. I’ll have to add some borders to them so I dug out some fabric that might work. The blocks are a real mish-mash of colors and styles, but I think they will work.

Then, just as I was about to write my post and call it a day, I decided to clean up my computer filing system. And presto, before I knew it over an hour had passed.

I hope to finish my book this evening – that was why I wanted to finish in my studio early today.
