Getting Closer

We spent most of the day working on Plan B of my computer restore. Pat was able to take the hard drive from my old machine and pop it into one of his machines. We were able to see the files and folders on the disk and located the library where my photos were stored. It took time (a lot of time) to copy them to the backup machine and from there to my new machine, but at least they were all there.

I still have a couple of programs that aren’t working. The MacStitch program that I used to design The Rainbow Bridge for Christy wasn’t able to run on the new machine. I thought it was going to cost me over $40 to get the newer version so I decided I wouldn’t bother. While I was poking around later, I found a special offer on their site and I was able to get the newest version for just $15.

The other program is more problematic, because it involves a program that is registered to one machine (the one that no longer works). The solution is to unregister it on the old machine, but since I can’t start the old machine that isn’t going to work. I’ve sent off a request to their support people and hopefully they will have an easy solution.

But hey, I’m happy! I’ve got photos!
