According to the definition of my fellow Guild members, I have a UFO (UnFinished Object) in the house. I sandwiched my butterfly quilt today and it is ready to be quilted. I had a lot of compliments on it – my friends at the bee are so supportive of my efforts.
After the sandwiching was done I switched over to my String Quilt. I started sewing blocks together but was quite a few short for the dimensions I had written on my pattern. I kept at it and sewed all the blocks I had into rows, thinking I would have to make a few more blocks.
When I got home I took a look at the size and decided if I added some sashing between the rows I could get away with the number of blocks I already had. Then I remembered I took a picture of the original layout, when I thought I had all the blocks done. I dug way back into my Journal and found the photo.
Here’s my mistake. I originally laid the blocks out for a 60” x 60” top. When I sewed them together today I ended up with an 80” x 50” top. According to my reference book this is about the size of a double bed so I’ll leave out the sashing and get on with sewing the rows together. When they are done I’ll see if I need to add borders.
I had another try at my new craft this afternoon, but I need to watch that tutorial a few more times because it still isn’t working for me. I’m moving on to something else tonight while we watch the Olympics.
