I planned to cut the grass today before it got too hot. While I was having my coffee I looked at the weather forecast and saw that they were predicting rain for most of the day. I immediately got dressed and headed out the door.
I was glad that we had the push mower because it was just past seven and I wouldn’t want to wake the neighbours. I had the first cut of the grass finished and raked before the 8:10 ferry left for Comox. It was still too early to bring out the weed whacker for the edging so I did my second cut of the lawn and my watering. As I was watering, my neighbour and her daughter came out on their step so I knew they were up (and she assured me that she hadn’t heard the mower).
It wouldn’t have mattered though because just at that time the crew at City Hall powered up the big mowers and made far more noise than my weed whacker does. This was the first time I’ve done the edging on my own and, wouldn’t you know it, the cord ran out (I don’t even know if that is what you call it). I found another spool and, after a couple of attempts, I was able to finish my job.
I went from my outside chores to my inside chores. I did the vacuuming, a bit of laundry, and then made a trip to the grocery store. Pat is home tonight so it was time to get the house in order! I spent much of the afternoon at my cross stitch, and I’ll switch to knitting until it is time to head to the airport.
So far the day hasn’t been as hot every other day this week, but there hasn’t been a drop of rain in sight either!
