When we moved to Powell River and I realized there would be a lawn to cut I insisted on getting a push mower. It seemed no matter what day, or time of day, I went out to enjoy the deck in Port Coquitlam someone would start up a lawn mower. Is there a more annoying sound?
We’ve been here almost two years now and Pat and I have been sharing the lawn work. I feel guilty if he does the mowing because I know he would rather have a gas or electric mower. Even when I’m mowing, Pat is usually using the weed whacker on the edges or on the boulevard.
Today I decided it was time I learned how to use the power tools. I mowed the boulevard with the push mower but some of those annoying weeds just don’t mow. Pat gave me a quick lesson with the weed whacker and I finished off the boulevard. It wasn’t all that difficult, but it is a bit messy with the throwback. It makes short work of those weeds.
When the weed whacking was done I had left quite a mess on the sidewalk so I got out the leaf blower and cleaned up after myself. No lesson required for the leaf blower. I wonder if I could use it in the house when the dust bunnies appear to be taking over?
It was almost noon before we finished the yard work (Pat was planting trees). When I finished my shower I took a couple of ibuprofen because my elbow had already started to ache. By the time lunch was over my elbow was feeling better and I spent some time in my studio. I’ve been enjoying the knitting and, since I finished another Blossom Street book, I thought I’d dig out my first Blossom Street pattern and see how it worked up. It will end up being a lap afghan and I’ll donate it to the Hospital Auxiliary’s next bazaar.
About a month ago the apartment behind our house had a fire. No one was injured, but all the residents had to be moved out and won’t get back in for a few months until restorations are completed. There is a benefit jam session tonight for the victims so we’ll walk up the street and see what’s going on – I’ve been promised a burger and a beer at least!
