There wasn’t a dry eye in the parking lot as the choir boarded the bus this morning for their trip back to Vancouver. Everyone was laughing and having a great time, and then the choir did one final song for us. When that was done we realized that they were actually leaving and everyone (including the choir) was wiping away tears as we exchanged hugs all around. Although Mabel and Ivy were our billets, the entire choir felt like family.

We were lucky enough to keep Mabel for a couple more hours because she was flying out on the noon plane. She will fly to Victoria today and then home to Dubai (via Seattle) tomorrow.

This was our first Kathaumixw experience and, after a bit of rest, we’ll be ready to sign up for the 2014 festival.
