Two firsts and a second

This was another early rehearsal morning and we were out the door by seven. The choir’s final competition was this morning – the folk and cultural category. I said to Pat while we were waiting for the competition to begin that I felt nervous for them! They sang very well and there was no need to be nervous.

The entire choir was invited out for lunch by a family from Pender Harbour who are spending a few days in Powell River. They are staying in an apartment in the townsite and before lunch got started we had a chance to show them a few of the highlights – the bank building, the brewery, Dwight Hall. It was fun to see the choir so relaxed. This was the longest amount of free time they’ve had since they arrived.

Pat picked them up after lunch while I had a snooze – I was on the early morning shift. The choir had another afternoon concert and then we headed out to the golf course for some photos. We’ve never been out there and it is a lovely spot. After the photos another host family and ourselves took our “peeps” to The Savory Bight for dinner. They enjoyed being down by the water even if we didn’t see any sea life.

The Awards concert was tonight and the choir were performing. They placed second in the Adult Mixed Voice category and first in the Contemporary and Cultural categories. The money awards aren’t large, but they will help out with expenses.

The girls are out partying tonight at another host family’s home, and we are waiting for the call to pick them up.
