Another day … more events

Thursday, July 5, 2012

It was a later rehearsal this morning so we weren’t up so early – the girls didn’t need to report in until eight o’clock! Pat and I both planned to attend the morning competition so we spent a pleasant hour at Starbucks between our drop-off and pick-up. There were lots of folks we know dropping in for coffee so the time went very quickly.

Today’s competition was in Contemporary Music. One of the selections the choir sang had lyrics written by one choir member and music written by another. It was the world premiere of the piece. At supper tonight Mabel said that the piece was written for twelve voices and each member of the choir was singing a different part. I think the competition was a little stiffer today, but they were certainly among the top three.

There was an afternoon concert but we didn’t go to it because I had my Red Cross shift with Margaret. It was the busiest day we’ve had for several weeks – lots of returns and loans. I’m not sure whether I’m happier when it is busy or when it is slow. I don’t have a lot of choice in the matter so I guess it really doesn’t matter.

The choir had another concert tonight and Pat got tickets for it. I’m hoping to do a little catching up in my office so that once I get back to my stitching (probably next week) I’ll have a clear space to do it in.
