I checked the forecast and knew that rain was expected by afternoon. I worked out in the yard for what seemed like hours this morning. When I came inside it was only ten o’clock – of course I was out there early! Before I go out to work I pick a section of the yard to focus on. That way I can see the difference I have made in one area – and I can quit when that area is done regardless of how much (or little) time it takes.
I knew I had some accounting work to do, so after my shower I got started on that. Having been away for a month meant there weren’t as many entries as usual and I finished up just as Pat called me for a late lunch.
By then the rain had started and I felt like knitting for the afternoon. When I went up to my studio I looked at a pattern I had set out, but I was uninspired. I looked at what I had in my pile of crafts and decided to start on another Pay It Forward challenge. This is a cross-stitch piece and it won’t be done quickly. It is nice though to get a start on it.
Yesterday morning Bud, our neighbor across the street, brought over a huge bag of rhubarb from his garden. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I already had bags of it in the freezer and more in the garden. So tonight I have started the first step in a batch of rhubarb-strawberry jam. It has to sit overnight and I’ll do the cooking tomorrow. Sadly, it has barely made a dent in the bag.
We have joined a PowerSmart team and we are trying to reduce our electricity consumption by 10%. As part of my reduction I am turning off my computer when I’m not actually using it. I would have updated my website if it didn’t mean firing everything up again – I’ll do that task during my computer time tomorrow.
