I had planned to get my studio cleaned up this morning and then get my packing done this afternoon. What is that saying about the best laid plans?
We took a look at what we had left in the fridge this morning and Pat made a wonderful omelette to use up the eggs and veggies. I needed to recycle the coffee pods and then we had to figure out if the compost could handle it all. We had several bags of yard and grass clippings (from over the winter and yesterday’s work) for the green recycle so Pat called a service to take it all away. Since the fellow wasn’t coming until later in the morning so I decided to get the grass cut (inside the fence) so the clippings could get in the bags.
After the grass was cut and raked (twice) I thought I’d peel the apples in the fridge so the scraps could go along with the green. When that was done the service still hadn’t shown up so I headed back out to the garden to pick the rhubarb. I have two bags of apples and two bags of rhubarb cut, frozen and ready for crisps when we return home.
By the time that was all done it was past noon and I still didn’t have my cards ready for the mail. I had a packing list made up but I knew there were a few things on it that I needed to shop for. I laid everything out on the bed and made my shopping list for the extras I needed. When I went out to the post office I made a couple of stops and got everything done.
By then it was late afternoon and I’d run out of energy. I sat on the back deck and read for awhile. I’m trying to get my book finished before we leave. If I read 100 pages today and tomorrow I’ll be okay. Managing to stay awake at night to get those pages read has been a challenge, and tonight will be harder than ever!
