I was awake at five this morning with a brilliant idea for quilting the Sudoku quilt. Since I wasn’t able to get back to sleep I got an early start to my day. First up I had some paperwork to take care of. My HST report is due at the end of the month, as well as my income tax.
I had time to test my theory on the quilt before picking Margaret up for our Red Cross shift. Although my idea worked, the pattern had to be repeated many more times than I wanted it to. I’ve learned a lot about batting in the last few months. Batting comes with a guideline as to how far apart it needs to be quilted. I’ve seen some online that only needs to be quilted about every eight inches. Sadly, the roll of batting I purchased needs to be quilted every four inches so that means I need to do a lot of quilting on every piece that I do.
While I was away doing my shift, Pat was busy at home getting out the patio furniture. We sat out on the deck for our afternoon coffee and it was just lovely. Off in the distance (in Comox) we could see the Snowbirds doing some of their practice runs. Hopefully this will be a good summer and we’ll have many more chances to enjoy our decks.
I did a bit more quilting before dinner but I still have a long way to go. I attempted to do a bit more after dinner but I had to do some ripping out so decided I’d best quit for the night.
