I took two projects to the bee today because I was sure I’d finish one of them by lunchtime or shortly after. I had three butterflies left to piece and they were to be my first project. After they were finished I planned to work on the second block of my Block of the Month project – more hexagons.
It took me a long time to piece the first butterfly. I stitched the pieces together wrong not once, but twice. It had been awhile since I worked on them so I thought that once the first one was finished I’d be fine. The second block went well and I finished it up right after lunch. One more to do and then I’d be moving on.
Not so fast! I didn’t like the way some of the points were matching on the third butterfly so I decided to take out a couple of seams. The stitches were halfway ripped out when I realized I was taking out the wrong seam. One thing after another went wrong. I knew it was time to quit but I was determined to get them done. At the end of the day I was the last one to take down my machine but I finished that last butterfly. The project is a long way from being complete, but I will put it away until after our trip.
I picked up a new book at the library this afternoon. I think I’ll have time to finish it before we go. I spent a bit of time before dinner working on my hexagon block. I hope to finish it tonight (at least to the hand stitching stage) so I’ll be ready to start quilting tomorrow.
