It was my day for lunch at BOND and pita pizzas were on the menu. They are quite easy to make and shop for, but putting them together is a real challenge in the small space we have to work with. I made ham and pineapple, pepperoni and mushroom and a veggie version. I can only fit two cookie sheets in the oven at a time, and each cookie sheet holds only two pitas. I kept the first batch of four warm under foil until I had the second batch of four finished. As the ladies started on those ones I continued to make and serve several more batches.
There were a lot of newborns at group today and many of them were fussy. I think some of the ladies were wondering why I wasn’t jumping at the chance to have a cuddle with them. But, because of my cold, I kept my distance from the babies today. There have been several cases of whooping cough (Pertussis) in the lower mainland and Public Health offer free immunization to anyone working with children. While the ladies ate lunch I slipped into one of the back rooms and got my shot. The mixture I got also includes protection against diphtheria and tetanus.
It was a craft day and the ladies tend to stay until the last minute and the leaders start shooing them out the door. They made cute little stuffed bunnies from socks today. There was a lot of clean up to do after the ladies left, but at least there was no paint to clean off the tables.
It was another stormy day here and my studio looks like the wind was inside rather than outside. Luckily I’ll be away tomorrow at my sewing bee so I don’t need to sort it all out for at least another day! I’m hoping to finish my book tonight.
