No surprises

I woke up this morning knowing it was Wednesday and that meant an appliqué day. I hoped to get Block 10 turned, some bias binding made, and then get Block 10 placed. I had the pieces for the block turned but I still had some starch in my cup (I use the starch when I turn the pieces) so I started to turn the Block 11 pieces. By the time the starch ran out it was lunch and time to move on.

After lunch I did a few Italian lessons. I really don’t think the stuff I’m learning (and I’m not retaining much) is going to help me when we get to Italy. I was so frustrated today because the software wouldn’t accept my pronunciation that I had to quit. I haven’t learned any swearing words yet so I had no other choice to relieve my tension! When Pat got home from his piano lesson he did a bit of Italian and we were both laughing when you’d be given a phrase and all you wanted to do was say “Huh”!

It was the Art Film series tonight – Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The movie is based on the John le Carré novel that I borrowed from the library last week. I usually like to read the book first but I didn’t have time. Even after seeing the movie I will go ahead and read the book because I think it will clear up some of the things I didn’t understand about the movie.
