Mac and cheese

Monday, March 5, 2012

I haven’t prepared a BOND lunch for a few weeks and I was a little nervous this morning. I was making a familiar (and favorite) recipe – macaroni and cheese. I took my own pot to make the sauce in because we don’t have proper pots and pans at the hospital. I used the one large pot that we have to cook the macaroni, and then had to drain it in a couple of rounds because we only have a small colander. The prep went quite quickly (even the fruits and veggies) and I had time to admire the new babies before I served lunch.

The baby I was cuddling with today was named Elizabeth. She is just under three months old. She was a bit fussy when I took her from her Mum, but after I walked (and talked) with her a bit she fell asleep. It was a nice sized group today – all the chairs were filled, but we didn’t have to go scrounging for extras. We have a couple of five-month babies in the group and they are such fun – laughing and smiling!

The coordinator of the program is expecting her first baby in August. Apparently she announced it a couple of weeks ago but I wasn’t on duty so this was the first I’ve heard. I’m delighted because I found a new baby blanket pattern and now I have a reason to try it.

I got started on my Easter crafts before supper. I’m using a pattern I’ve had for quite some time – I think it originally came from Diane. It is a nice change from quilting and knitting/crocheting. Hopefully I can get three done before Easter!
