I ended up at the right place for the sewing bee today. The turnout wasn’t as good as we get at the Seniors Center, but there isn’t as much room at the clubhouse so that is probably a good thing. I worked on my appliqué project again. I’m still knitting so my quilting hasn’t advanced and I don’t dare move (or adjust) my machine while things are going well. I hope to get back to the Mystery Quilt next week and, perhaps, even get it finished.
I’m still waiting for my cookie tin exchange for the month. They are supposed to be turned in at the March meeting, and I know the one coming up isn’t going to be easy. I had a peek inside the box and it is an appliqué project. I picked out a pattern, but I’ll have to see if it fits in with what others have done. Diane has told me about an appliqué technique she has been using so, if the pattern seems suitable, I will try it out.
There are a lot of loose threads involved in quilting, and after every sewing bee I come home with my socks covered in thread. I am learning to change my socks when I get home, but that doesn’t eliminate the threads when you are sewing. I have a small, square flower vase sitting beside my machine when I’m at home and I try to catch most of the threads and put them in it. Today, one of the ladies had a pattern for a “Thread Catcher” that sits on the edge of the table with a pincushion on top and a pouch to hold scraps. We decided we would all work on that project when we meet in a couple of weeks. I don’t know if it will help with the scraps, but it will be a fun group project.
Now, back to my knitting.
