It felt like spring

We noticed that our daffodils are up in the pots on the deck, and with a sunny day today it certainly feels like winter is over. When I went out for coffee this afternoon I just wore a sweater. I did the same tonight when we went out because I knew that I wouldn’t be outside all that much.

This plant blooms about once every two years and I couldn’t resist taking a photo while the sun was shining on it.

I used the last of the rhubarb from the freezer tonight for a crisp. I haven’t seen any signs of rhubarb coming up in the garden, but we had a nice big plant last year so I’m hoping for a good year. We were told we couldn’t cut the stems for the first year, but our neighbour told us we could cut as much as we wanted from his plants. I can almost taste those rhubarb-strawberry crisps that we enjoyed last summer.

Before I retired, if someone said I could knit for days on end I wouldn’t have believed I would tire of it. Having such a tight deadline (I know, it’s my own deadline) for this baby blanket it is the only craft I’ve been doing. It will probably take me the rest of the week to finish it, because I’m not going to be home very much. I can hardly wait to get back to my quilting – that is a good sign I think.

I picked Margaret up for coffee this afternoon. I asked if she had any errands she wanted done and she said no, let’s just have coffee. So we had a lovely relaxed visit. I noticed when she got in the car that she was wearing some make-up (she doesn’t usually, and neither do I). While I was getting our coffee another customer at McDonalds said she looked like she was feeling better. Margaret said the woman laughed when she told her she hadn’t been sick and was just wearing make-up.

It was cheap night at the movies. It is hard to say if we are helping the theater when we go on cheap night. Perhaps we should be going on “regular” nights so they would make a little more money. But on “regular” nights I get a seniors’ discount so they wouldn’t make much more than they did tonight.
