The wind warnings were up again this morning and we nearly blew off the step when we headed out to the quilting bee. Pat was meeting with a friend who lives in the same area as I sew in so we were traveling together. I don’t think any ferries crossed during the day – I’m not sure about the evening run. There were a few regular members missing this morning – one was stuck on Vancouver Island and one was stuck on Texada. Now that we are sewing at the Senior Center we have a few new ladies joining us on what, we hope, will be a regular basis.
First up on my list was to get my Mystery Quilt sandwiched. Everyone was very complementary about the piece and many asked how I was going to quilt it. Of course that is always my dilemma. I have a few ideas, but I’ll look on the Internet for a bit more inspiration and then, hopefully, get busy quilting on the weekend.
Once that was rolled up and packed away I was ready to sandwich my Bargello project. I was hurrying last night and thought that I had a piece of batting that would work but it was too narrow. Fortunately I had a strip of batting left from my Mystery Quilt and one of the members stitched the two pieces together so I could carry on. Most of the quilting I’ve seen done on the Bargello pieces has been straight lines but one of the women today had done hers with more of a wavy line. It looked really nice and she said it was a lot less work than the lines would be. I’m still not sure what I will do with mine, but at least I have a couple of options that I’ve seen stitched.
I spent the rest of my time stitching down the binding on my Bench Cover. I’d say I’m more than half done. I’m hoping to have it finished for Show and Tell at the February Guild Meeting, and I don’t think that should be a problem.
While we watched the hockey game tonight I finished knitting Will’s afghan. I have a lot of ends to tie in, and then I’ll have to decide whether or not to add a fringe. I’m thinking not, because Will is anxious to have it.
