When I looked outside this morning and saw the snow I decided the ingredients were perfect for a pyjama day. Even before breakfast I had one more block quilted and I was on track to finish before lunch. Then the phone rang.

I expected to hear from Margaret today but, because of the snow, I didn’t think we would be going out. When she called, I was surprised to hear that she had been in hospital since Saturday night. She expected to be released in the afternoon but needed to see the doctor on Friday and wanted to know if I would be able to drive her. I assured her I’d be available and then went back to my quilting.

The next phone call came just a few minutes later. It was Margaret again telling me that she was going to be released. She didn’t ask me, but I had a feeling that she wanted a ride. I told her that if she needed me to pick her up I could. She said she’d wait and see what was what. Just a few minutes later she called again and asked if I could pick her up.

So that was the end of pyjama day. When I picked Margaret up she needed a prescription filled so we stopped at the drug store. I offered to go in and get the prescription so she didn’t have to get out of the car and she was really appreciative. The truth was I was worried about her falling on the snow. I also worried about how the road to her house would be – she lives on a very steep hill – but when we got there the road was clear. And then I worried about getting her into the house without falling.

I finished quilting my Bench Cover this afternoon. Remember all the trouble I had yesterday with broken needles and the new quilting foot? On the last block today the quilting foot I was using (the generic one) broke in two. My options were to hand quilt the little bit of the block I had left, leave the block unfinished, or attempt the “new” quilting foot again. I’m not sure what I did right today, but the new foot worked fine and there were no broken needles. I can’t say I enjoyed the process, but now that it is finished I like it a bit better. I did a lot of “playing” with this piece and I have found a design that will work (and that I can do) for my Mystery Quilt when I get to that stage.

Tonight was the Annual PREP Society dinner. The BOND program is part of PREP (Powell River Employment Program) and as a volunteer my dinner was free. The food was good, as was the company, and I enjoyed the evening.

I’ve been in my pyjamas since I got home a few hours ago. Thanks to the coffee I drank with dinner I’m going to get lots of knitting done before I feel like going to bed!
